It may feel early to talk about warm water and pine breezes while we are pulling on thick sweaters, but booking the group cabins requires a head start. After talking through ideas over the last few weeks, we have locked in dates for our annual gathering during the third weekend of July. Having an anchor on the calendar gives all of us something bright to look toward through the coming winter months.
Returning to the Same Porch
We decided to return to the cluster of lakeside cottages we stayed at two summers ago. The shared porch worked wonderfully for morning coffee, and having a shallow sandy bank meant the youngest cousins could wade safely while the grandparents watched from the shade of the willow trees. The camp manager confirmed they can hold the four adjacent cabins for our group through the end of January.
Keeping the Meals Simple and Shared
Instead of turning cooking into a chore, we are sticking with the shared rotation that worked so smoothly last time. Each branch takes charge of one evening dinner, while breakfasts and lunches remain easy and open, built around sandwich fixings, fresh fruit, and whatever anyone wants to grab. That way, nobody spends their whole holiday behind a stove, and everyone gets plenty of time out on the water.
Sending Notes and Confirmations
Please drop a quick note through the contact form on this site or give us a call before New Year to confirm your headcount and room preferences. We cannot wait to hear the screen door slap shut and spend three days listening to the loons across the water together.
